“Heigh-Ho”

It’s off to work we go! This original art is made from scrap metal and retired tools that I have cut, welded, and remastered. The working animal is currently grazing on display at Coffee Please until homed.

Components:

  • Face - Axe

  • Antlers - Four tine pitch fork

  • Tail - Cotter pin and flat blade

  • Eyes - Lug nuts from a Ford F-150

  • Body - Hoe

  • Legs - 3/8 inch rebar

  • Base - Walnut wood

 

“Aiden”

Meaning “Little Fire.” This piece is made from eclectic ingredients that have remastered. For now, Aiden guards Coffee Please until he flies to a new home.

Components:

  • Wings - Expanded metal, with 1/2 inch rebar, 1/4 inch round stock

  • Bod - 1 3/8 inch rebar accented with stump grinder teeth

  • Arms - 1/2 inch rebar

  • Eyes - Roller bearings accented with cooper

  • Teeth - Antique wood saw blade

  • Tongue - Part of a horseshoe

  • Eyelashes - Drive gears

  • Neck accent - Horse bridle

  • Back of head/neck - Shaper blades

  • Head spikes - 16 penny nails and 1/4 inch round stock

  • Split tail - 1 3/8 inch split rebar accented with 8 penny nails

  • Base - 5/8 inch round stock, large bushing, 2 large gears

 

“Turk”

Bring some Alice in Wonderland-esque imagination into your own backyard! This original piece was cut, welded, and remastered from scrap metal and retired tools. He is currently perched at Coffee Please for viewing pleasure until he finds a home.

Components:

  • Body - Retired shovel

  • Eyebrows - Spider gears

  • Nose - 2 ton chain hoist

  • Eyes - Gears

  • Collar neck - Transmission gear

  • Feet - 3/8 inch rebar

  • Legs - 1/2 inch rebar

 

Giraffe

This expressive safari animal is a whimsical combination of lots of upcycled metals. He lives at Coffee Please now, but would love to explore your home!

Components:

  • Neck - Scaffolding jack

  • Ears - Scaffolding adjust nut

  • Horns - Bolts from a fire hydrant

  • Eyes - Gears

  • Eyelashes - Springs

  • Mouth and Jaw - Antique wrenches

  • Body - Car suspension

  • Legs - 5/8 inch sound stock steel

  • Tail - Spring

 

Fisherman

Does this boat look sea-worthy? Wanting to use some old fishing lures in an inspired piece, I added my touch to make a lasting work of art.

Components:

  • Boat - 15 pound stone sledge hammer

  • Body and paddle shaft - Russian wood banding

  • Paddles - Fishing lures

  • Fishing poles - Scrap steel with rivets to make the rings

  • Reels - Finish nuts

 

“Ferdinand”

For a stationary statement piece, this guy has lots of movement. His dangling bangs can be styled to your liking - I’ve been keeping them swept behind his eyelashes. Ferdinand is watching friends enjoy their warm drinks at Coffee Please, but would jump over the moon to come home with you!

  • Eyes - Tines from a baseball field grading tool

  • Tail - Spring
